How a QR code can have a logo in the middle
Every QR code carries extra, redundant data called error correction. There are four levels — L, M, Q and H — that can recover roughly 7%, 15%, 25% and 30% of a damaged code. A logo is simply "planned damage": as long as it covers less than the code can recover, phones still read it.
Rules of thumb for logo QR codes
- Keep the logo in the center and under about 30% of the width.
- Never cover the three big corner squares — phones use them to find the code.
- Give the logo a little white padding so its edges don't blend into the pattern.
- Keep a dark pattern on a light background, and test with your own phone before printing a large run.

Logo QR code questions
Will a logo stop my QR code from scanning?
Not if it's sized right. QR codes have built-in error correction: at level H, up to 30% of the code can be covered and it still reads. We switch to level H automatically when you add a logo and test the result in your browser.
How big can my logo be?
Up to about 30% of the code's width is safe for most designs; our slider goes to 45%, and the checker warns you when it gets risky.
Is my logo uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is read by your browser and placed into the code locally. It never leaves your device.
What logo file works best?
A square PNG or SVG with a transparent or solid background and simple shapes. Very thin lines and small text get hard to see at small sizes.
Can I use the QR code commercially?
Yes — on packaging, ads, menus, anything. There's no watermark and no license fee.
