Printing a QR code on a business card

A standard US business card is 3.5 × 2 in (89 × 51 mm). A QR code of about 0.8 in (2 cm) square scans reliably at arm's length. Leave a white margin around it — the "quiet zone" — of at least the width of four of the code's small squares.

Which format to send to the printer

  • SVG — vector, stays sharp at any size. Best for print shops and design apps like Canva, Illustrator or Figma.
  • PDF — easy to email to a printer.
  • PNG at 2048 px — fine for most digital and home printing.

Fewer fields, faster scans

Each extra field makes the pattern denser. For a small card, name + phone + email + website is usually the sweet spot.

FAQ

vCard QR code questions

What is a vCard QR code?

It is a QR code that contains a digital business card in the vCard format. When scanned, the phone shows the contact and offers to save it — name, phone, email, company and website all filled in.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The built-in camera apps on iPhone and Android recognize vCard codes. We use vCard 3.0, the version supported most widely.

Can I update my details after printing?

Not with a static code — the details are stored in the code itself. If your number changes, make a new code (it's free). Editable codes that you can update are coming soon.

Why is my vCard QR code so dense?

Every field adds data. If the code looks crowded, remove optional fields like job title or website, or print it a little larger. The scan checker tells you if it might be hard to read.

Is my contact information stored?

No. The code is generated in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us.
